Jay Belton Conventional Fine Art Black and White Photography |
|
The photographs you see here were all done by conventional means -- no photograph you see here has undergone any digital enhancements. Each is made by painstaking means in only the traditional manner. In fact, I still use the very first 35mm camera that I got, used, from my father fifteen years ago. The camera is fully manual -- a Minolta X-700. However, someday I hope to move up to a medium format Mamiya RZ-67. Ooooh pretty... After much experimenting, I've come to settle on Kodak Films: Tri-X, Plus-X and HIE (an infrared film), which are all developed in Kodak XTOL, by me, by hand, in manual tanks. I also make the prints in a butler's panty converted in a darkroom -- a cramped 3-foot by 6-foot space. And I still use, as well, the very first enlarger I ever bought, used again, 8 years ago. Eh, it suits my purpose. Each print takes anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to perfect into a Fine Art quality. Extensive notes are taken for reprinting and times have to, quite often, be recalculated due to chemical temperature changes. All Limited Edition Fine Prints have been toned in Selenium and are dry mounted on acid free mount board for archival quality and to preserve the print's integrity. Each come mounted on black or white mat, signed, numbered and cello-wrapped. Frames are generally not provided for the Limited Edition Fine Prints. Non-edition prints are also available as an alternative option, which also come mounted and signed. I hope you enjoy these Fine Art Prints as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by to look at them and taking the time to read this. |
